Hello!

Hi! I'm Edge... from the Bronx! (That's the one in New York...) So nice to meet you!

My journey has been quite an interesting one... and it's only going to get better from here on in! :)

I've had a crazy couple of days - it all started when Didi, my foster mom (aka- "rent-a-mom" as my foster daddy calls her) saw a post on Facebook. (I'd like to have one of those Facebook pages... I bet I'd have a lot of friends!)

The post said I was living on "borrowed time" (whatever that means) and that I needed to find a foster home... SOON! So Didi emailed the shelter I was currently staying at and set up a time to come meet me. It was pretty cool- she came from Philadelphia to get me! I was psyched when they told me I was "breaking out" as we call it in the doggy world.

You see, as the title of my blog says, I lived a truly sheltered life. I'm only two years old and I'm spent the majority of my life in a cage. I was adopted once for a short period of time but brought back when my adoptive parents had one of those baby things. Cute and all, but I think they were a bit overwhelmed by parenting and they just couldn't hack it. So I ended up back at the shelter. It's not too bad though, I made a lot of nice friends. Everyone at the shelter loved me for some reason and they couldn't figure out why no one would take me home.

Anyways... back to Didi. Poor Didi is afraid to drive in the city so my foster Grandpa drove her up to the lovely border of the Bronx in fabulous New York City! (Thanks, Pop! Didi might still be looking for the place if she drove, ha!)

So I got to meet Didi and she decided that she was going to foster me! Yay! I know secretly she wanted to adopt me but she has two forever dogs already and we are still deciding how I am around other dogs. I kinda like to be the top dog, ya know? It's OK though, I'm just glad she came and got me. It seems like I'm headed in the right direction!

So my foster family and I hit the road! It was a long ride home during Friday rush hour traffic but we made it! Let me tell you- I love car rides! At first, I was like what the hell... then, we started moving. Not to mention, Didi got me plenty of toys to keep me busy. I just love toys!

Finally after a four-hour ride home (thanks again, Pop!) I was in the great state of Pennsylvania. It's a lot different from the city since my foster family live just outside the city in a more rural setting. But I'm loving the grass, the flowers and the trees! I haven't seen a lot of those.

I got to meet some of my foster in-laws and then I was on my way "home" with Didi. First thought, we stopped at this really kick ass place called PetSmart. HOLY MOTHER OF DOG TOYS! Have you seen this place?! It's HUGE! I met some of the great trainers and got this really cool harness to help with my pulling. Hey, can you blame me? I want to see the world! I'm really learning to walk well on a leash. I'm also housebroken... except I pee'd on a bag of food in PetSmart. (Ooops... well, some other dog did it first!) The employee lady said, "good thing the bag wasn't open!" Heh.

Finally- dun, dun, dun, after we went to PetSmart, I got to see where I would be staying for a bit. Cool house, man. I'm really diggin the tile floors and the couch! (Well, Didi is trying to discourage me of this habit but really, wouldn't you rather sleep on the couch instead of the floor?)

I also got to meet my foster siblings. I was a bit... overwhelmed. Didi says I'd probably be better as an only pet. That way I can get all the love and attention I so deserve. Right now, I am kept separate from the other dogs. We meet with short, slow interactions. Very positive stuff. I really don't mean to impose on their turf, but this is all so new to me! Didi also says that her pups are doing great having me around. She is really proud of them!

(UPDATE FROM EDGE'S FOSTER MOM 7/12/10- Edge did wonderfully with our two dogs. He is much better with them off leash. He would be a great playmate for a puppy or young dog. Probably not older dogs because he is very, very playful and likes to dominate.)

Oh, and one other thing- CATS DROOL! I do NOT like cats! They tease me and then run away and what do you expect me to do, just sit and watch them? No, I chase them! So needless to say, I need a home where there are definitely no hairballs, ahem, I mean CATS!

Wow, I'm impressed I typed all of this without the advantage of opposable thumbs. It's just one of my many talents!

Well, I think that's all for now! It's been a fun couple of days- I've gotten to go on car rides, play ball and frisbee, have yummy treats and make lots of new friends! The only thing is- this is only temporary because I need to find my forever home! I want someone who will love me unconditionally and in return I'll be their best friend for life! It's all I ever wanted... well, that and my own computer. But we can talk about that later. ;)

I hope you enjoyed my story. Didi is currently accepting applications for either another foster family or my forever family (I hope! I hope!) If you have questions or want to meet me, you can email us at edgethepitbull@yahoo.com.

Check out my photos on Flickr- Didi is trying to take pictures of me every day to show my progress and to remember me by!

I can't wait to meet you! Bye for now!

Love, Edge
